Pre-Crushers

Designed specifically for processing bulky waste, the Cram-A-Lot Pre-Crusher Compactor smashes materials in advance of compacting them into the container. This effectively reduces waste volume and increases load weights. Pre-Crushers are designed to efficiently reduce the trash volume before it is compacted into a trash container. They are ideally suited for crushing drums, pallets, furniture, or white goods, or for destroying merchandise to prevent scavenging or reuse. We offer the most complete Pre-Crusher compactor range in the industry, from 3 cubic yards up to 7 cubic yards.

Standard features include:

  • Heavy Duty Construction - SolidWorks computer software is used to structurally design the Pre-Crusher to withstand heavy duty industrial applications.
  • Reinforced Pre-Crusher Gate – The reinforced gate design will reliably withstand the forces required to crush and destroy a variety of materials including drums, pallets, furniture, and white goods.
  • Tongue and Groove Floor – Standard on all Cram-A-Lot Pre-Crusher Compactor models, the tongue and groove floor prevents waste material from migrating between the ram and compactor floor.
  • Programmable Logic Controller – reliability is “designed in” through the use of a Programmable Logic Controller which simplifies electrical circuit design by eliminating the use of relays.

Power Unit Design & Construction:
The hydraulic power unit is the heart of any compactor. While other manufacturers may source their power units right out of a parts house catalog, we have always designed and built our hydraulic power units in house, specifically for our application. Designing and building our own power unit is the only way we can guarantee the reliability and performance that our customers deserve. Our Power Source IHM system is a key feature of our all our Pre-Crusher Compactor power units. It reduces the size and weight of the power unit and provides a cleaner, more reliable, and more durable hydraulic system. The sub plate manifolds, hard & flexible piping, connectors, and clamps that are traditionally associated with hydraulic distribution systems are now a thing of the past.

Hydraulic Cylinders:
A compactor's hydraulic cylinders represent the single most expensive purchased component on the machine. Not only are the cylinders themselves expensive, but many hours of labor is required to remove and replace them if they fail. Given these facts, it would seem that all manufacturers would source a high quality cylinder to use in their compactors, but unfortunately they don't. Because they're the highest cost component, this is one of the first areas considered when product managers and engineers are challenged by upper management to "cut costs". Some decide to change their specifications to a lighter duty design, others start importing lower cost cylinders from China.
At Cram-A-Lot, we have sourced our cylinders from the same supplier for over 20 years. Our cylinders are Made in the USA and our specification has remained the same. We design our cylinders to last. Cylinder design is not a good place to cut corners! Cost savings may be achieved, but only at the expense of reliability. Our customers deserve better! Just say "NO!" to cheap Chinese cylinders!
